Privacy policy.

This page explains what ArabicTyper does with your information, on this website and in the ArabicTyper app. Both are run by Bobo Labs Oy, the data controller. If anything here is unclear, email contact@bobolabs.fiand we’ll explain it.
The short version: we collect as little as we can. There are no accounts and no ads. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
On this website
What we collect: nothing that identifies you. The site has no sign-up, no forms and no accounts. When you practise typing or use the tools, the words you type stay in your browser.
Analytics: we use Plausible to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets no cookies and keeps no personal data, only rounded totals such as visits, top pages and broad country counts.
Stored in your browser:the typing test keeps your best score, and the on-screen keyboard keeps your draft, in your browser’s own storage so they survive a reload. Neither is sent to us. Clearing site data removes them.
Audio:when you press play on a word, your browser asks our server for that word’s recording. The request carries the word and the usual connection details every web request has, such as your IP address, which our hosting provider logs briefly for security. Recordings are generated once and stored, not per visitor.
Cookies: none. Not for analytics, not for ads.
In the app
You learn without an account. Your lessons, streak, review queue and settings live on your device and nowhere else. Deleting the app deletes them. Here is the data the app does involve, and why:
- Purchases. ArabicTyper Pro is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which handle payment; we never see your card. To unlock Pro and check whether a subscription is active we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase history and an app-generated user identifier (the “support ID” in Settings). It is random, not your name.
- Usage analytics.To learn which lessons work and where people get stuck, the app sends events such as “lesson completed” or “paywall shown” to PostHog, hosted in the EU, along with basic device information (model, operating system, app version), a random identifier, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address at country or city level; the address itself is discarded. There is no name or email to attach any of it to. We don’t use it for advertising, which is why the app never shows an “ask app not to track” prompt.
- Audio.Dictation exercises download a word’s recording from our server the first time you hear it, then keep it on your device. The request carries the word and your connection details, as above.
- Reminders. If you turn the daily reminder on, it is scheduled on your device. Nothing about it leaves your phone.
What we never do: show ads, sell or trade your data, or follow you across other apps and websites.
Who else handles your data
A few companies process data on our behalf, each under their own privacy terms:
- Website: Vercel (hosting and audio storage), Plausible (visitor counts), ElevenLabs (generates the recordings from text; it never sees visitor data).
- App: Apple and Google (the app stores and payments), RevenueCat (purchases), PostHog (usage analytics).
Where your data is processed
Your learning data stays on your device. Analytics are stored in the EU. Purchase records pass through Apple, Google and RevenueCat, which may process them in the United States or other countries under their standard safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Learning progress: on your device until you delete the app.
- Purchase records: while your subscription is active, and as long as tax and accounting law requires afterwards. Apple and Google keep their own records under their own rules.
- Analytics events: kept in aggregate; individual events are not tied to a person we could identify.
Your choices and rights
- Delete the app to remove your learning data. Nothing of it is held elsewhere.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- Email contact@bobolabs.fi any time to ask what we hold, or to have it corrected or deleted. Include the support ID from Settings so we can find the purchase record.
- If you are in the EU, the UK or California, your local rights apply and you exercise them the same way. We process purchase data to provide what you paid for, and analytics on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the app.
Children
ArabicTyper is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has shared information with us, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. For anything significant we’ll say so in the app.
